Red-Bellied Snake
Description: Tan to gray above with cream or orange neck ring. Below is orange or light red.
Diet: Nocturnal; hunts for slugs, snails and earthworms. Sometimes large adults will take salamanders and small frogs.
Disposition: Very mild, almost never bites.
Habitat: Lives in wet fields, forests (both coniferous and deciduous), and gardens. These snakes are very secretive and often hide under large rocks, rotten logs and boards. Sometimes it crosses roads on rainy nights.
Reproduction: Tiny snakes a little longer than a tooth pick are born via live birth.
